Typhoon Lagoon opened on June 1, 1989, and has a 2,100-foot lazy river known as Castaway Creek, the Shark Reef, the Surf Pool, and an area for kids called Ketchakiddee Creek, and seven waterslides.
Typhoon Lagoon is great for all the family. It has slides and pool areas to suit everyone’s needs. The lazy river is great for people who want to drift in the water to cool down from the Florida sun. There is an amazing kids’ play area which is surrounded by sand so it is like being at the beach. The kid’s area has a few slides, their very own lazy river, and a pirate ship!
For the old ones, there are lots of slides too, they haven’t forgotten the big kids. Please be warned the wave pool is not for the little ones. The wave reaches 6 feet tall and it has the force. People disappear under the wave and pop up somewhere completely different in the pool but it is quite the experience if you are a good swimmer. For the little ones who want to experience the waves, there is a lagoon to the side where the waves break and have less force.
