Magic Kingdom is the heart of Disney, it opened on the 16th July 1955 with 28,000 people paying only $1 to enter the park. It had a few opening day issues. It was the hottest day of the year and people’s heels were sinking into the tarmac! There was an issue with the water system a decision had to be made about drinking fountains or toilets!
Before you get to the gates you have to make your choice of ferry or monorail to get across the water where you can then stroll through the gates into the first area, Main Street, U.S.A.
Magic Kingdom is split into four lands which transport you into different times and cultures.
Frontierland is the old-time Wild West. You can meet a variety of characters and fast-paced action rides from the roaring Big Thunder Mountain Railroad coaster to the log ride on Splash Mountain.
Tomorrowland, transport back in time showing you the imagination of how Walt Disney thought today’s world would be and how electricity and technology would transform our lives. You can view the park from the Astro Orbiter and blast off into a one-of-a-kind, dark outer space rollercoaster.
Adventureland let you mix with swashbuckling pirates, experience the magic carpet rides from Aladdin, and give you the chance to trek through the jungles of Africa and Asia.
Fantasyland is the land of storybooks, dive under the sea with Ariel, take a flight to Neverland or join Alice in a cup of tea or see you’re pals in 100 Acre wood. This is the land where the little one can take flight with the elephants or start their love for roller coasters aboard the goofy barnstormer coaster.
